So today's journey started near the Thomas Johnson Bridge. I knew there were a pair of nesting Osprey on N. Patuxent Beach Road whose nest was low to the ground on a dilapidated pier. They were not very cooperative and flew off nearly as soon as I was set up. Oh well, there must be a few other things to point the camera at.
Near vertical, nacelles titled up.. yep an Osprey |
The bridge is a pretty prominent feature hear in Southern Maryland, so I tried a couple shots of that. I searched the shore line for lines that might capture some imagination. I tried the pier, but didn't like the results. I walked a bit further, not too far though since it was 95F and no shade. I did come across a toy shovel someone left behind. I hope the tears were few once the tot realized s/he was missing something that should be in the little bucket.
Then I moved on a short distance away to try find some other birds. It was a stretch and I've had to zoom in on the image, but did capture a few somewhat murky shots of these little guys. I really am not sure what they are, but I'm going to guess at House Sparrow though. They stayed perched for the most part.
And lastly there was a nice flag swaying in the breeze (a very welcome breeze I might add.)
Just a short trip, near home, near the shore line. It still was a nice respite, and I did find a variety of 'lines.' Stripes in a flag, straight features of poles, pilings, piers and tomato cages. curves of a road and bridge. Colors and grays, blacks and white hues. Plenty of birds, bushes and back water. It was nice to take in and remind me of what's always there to discover.. should I decide to really look.
Peace,
Brian
